Here’s a video with more details about the ballot and application, please reach out if you have more questions.
*If you’re a diehard flow-by-hand type with excellent penmanship, you can take a picture of your flow and insert it onto your sheet. It must be legible for students though!
Option 2
Flow and judge a Congress scrimmage from last year.
Submit the following:
Judge Paradigm
Debate flow
Feedback for each student, including what they could have done differently to move up a rank.
The PO is an adult so don’t rank him.Ranks and speaker points out of 30
Congress ballots and flows are less standardized so we’re not mandating a template. However you do it, please include some representation of the important arguments of the round and how they developed. If you’re writing anything by hand, please make sure that it’s legible to students.
If you’re looking for more resources:
- BDL Congress ballot and a video explainer
- Coach Marie Conner’s ballot
- Texas UIL Congress rubric
If you need to pause the video to keep up with notes, please keep it to the amount that you would pause students in-round. Our scrimmages run at a pretty quick pace, but you’ll always have time to edit your shorthand after the round.
When you’re done, share or send your ballot to joey@brooklyndebateleague.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible with your results and next steps.
If you’re willing to volunteer in lieu of payment, please indicate that on your ballot. Sorry to international applicants, but we can only pay US citizens who are residing in the United States.
